| Featured Dances (with Videos)
We have received some great compliments about our dances on PEC. It seems you really like it when we have videos with them so we are going to feature those here. Videos are on the bottom portion of the lesson ideas. Comment: "I am an Elementary PE teacher and this is what I was looking for. We are asked to do dances for our Six Weeks Report night but I was running out of ideas. I am a visual learner and the videos are helping me a lot. I take the computer out to class and the students can use the video to warm-up and we have something to show the parents. Again keep up the good work and make more videos. It really saved my day." | National Girls and Women in Sports Day
On February 1, 2012, thousands of sport educators, coaches, athletic directors, recreation directors, association members, sponsors, students, and parents across the country will show their support of girls and women in sports during the 26th annual celebration of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day! This year's theme: "Title IX at 40: In it for the Long Run." Athletes like Martina Navratilova, Candace Parker, Jessica Mendoza, and you who played or are still playing are making a difference, overcoming difficult circumstances, breaking records and making things possible. Despite the stunning advances made in the 40 years since Title IX was enacted, high school girls still receive 1.3 million fewer participation opportunities than do boys, and evidence suggests that the money spent on girls' sports programs lags significantly behind the money spent on boys' programs. This year, USADA Athlete Ambassador, DeeDee Trotter, is showing her support for the wonderful opportunities that sports has offered to her and her appreciate for the advancements of women’s rights in sports.
